Can Social Security help locate a missing person?
Effective May 19, 2014, Social Security will no longer offer any letter forwarding services. In recent years, the web has experienced a rapid expansion of web based locator resources via free social media websites and for pay locator services. The public now has widespread access to the web and the ability to locate individuals without relying on our letter forwarding services. For these reasons, we have eliminated our letter forwarding services. We encourage you to use the resources and services available on the Internet when attempting to locate someone.
