Report fraud, waste or abuse involving the Social Security or SSI programs to our Office of the Inspector General. Or, report anonymously by:

  • Calling our toll-free number at 1-800-269-0271 (TTY 1-866-501-2101), Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
  • Faxing to 1-410-597-0118.
  • Sending mail to the Social Security Fraud Hotline, P.O. Box 17785, Baltimore, MD 21235-7785.

If you want to report identity theft, where someone used your personal information, including your Social Security number, to get a loan or a job, file a tax return, or conduct other business, please visit the Federal Trade Commission’s Identity Theft page.

To report an allegation of Medicare or Medicaid fraud, contact the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services OIG or by phone at 1-800-447-8744.
